Making Books?

I have Finally bought a sewing machine! Why? Well I have finally buckled down and bought one so that I can make some activity type books for my son and soon to be born daughter. They will be based on bible stories and if they turn out like my drawings, super cute! I am very excited and I will post pictures when they are finished or being worked on :)

Dry Erase Crayons for a Dry Erase Table

So I went to buy some dry erase markers for the new dry erase table top and while at wal mart, I found a product by Crayola called dry erase crayons! I had to have them!
First pro: no kids so they won't dry out if we lose a lid or just forget it.
Second pro: washes off with the swipe of a cloth or for the more stubborn marks, just use a bit of water!
Pro three: less than 5 dollars for 8 crayons which makes it way cheaper than the 4 markers for 8 dollars!
So I tried them out and so far, I recommend them!
Thanks for reading!

My weekend Play Area table!

I bought a table from the thrift store for my sons playroom a few weeks ago for $7.50!! It came with the two chairs as well so this was a great price. Before this table I had an ikea mammut table and chairs which I sold on kijiji for 50 bucks! I had paid 40 for it a year ago so i made $10.00 but it felt like all profit!
Anyways I sold that and used the money for supplies for the wood table.. It took me a while to decide what I really wanted to do with this because I really wanted it to work for a few years and with a baby girl on the way, I needed it to be unisex!
I had thought of a chalkboard table but my mom suggested doing a white board! I took that idea and went to Home depot. The white board paint was crazy expensive! It was 33 dollars and all has to be used within 2 hours so I couldn't sell the leftovers or save it for a future project :( so that was quite a splurge. I also found a gorgeous blue spray paint for 4.50. I also bought a foam roller for 5 dollars. In total, I paid 50 dollars for This table but because I sold my ikea table, it was pretty much free!
So I got my supplies home and got to work right away. Sanded down the table and chairs and did my very first spray paint job ever! I ran out of spray paint so I didn't do a second coat(maybe next weekend) but they look much better!! The whiteboard paint took a while to apply and I recommend reading reviews for how to apply it.
Anyways here is the finished project! Leave a comment and tell me what u think :)

Redone kitchen chairs for the cost of staples!

So I got this table from my mom when I moved out and got married and she wanted a new one anyways. It was a dark wood with dark beige chair cushions. 2 and a half out of 4 cushions weren't attached to the frame properly and were obviously a safety hazard to my baby! :/
So something had to be done!
About a month earlier I had informed my grama that I wanted to change up my color scheme so she gave me a bunch of extra orange decor things she had and some paint!
I sanded down my chairs and painted them an ivory paint by Benjamin Moore. I got a staple gun from my mom and bought some staples for $4.00. I just stapled the new sturdy fabric over the old stained stuff and it was beautiful!
I also used some clear coat spray paint on the chairs so that they don't peel and are easy to wipe down as they are white lol.
I have yet to do my kitchen table so it's still brown. I wanted to leave it brown but my hubby spilled some heavy duty cleaner on the top and it's marked so it definitely needs to be redone!

A New Bedside Table for $1.50!

I bought this bedside table for 50 cents at the thrift store because I needed something as a catch all on my hubby's side of the bed!
I sanded it down and in the process found out that it's 40 years old which I though was pretty cool! I wanted it grey because our bedroom is pretty neutral except for some pillows, flowers and art work above the bed.
I got a tester of Martha Stewart grey from home depot on sale for 1 dollar. It covered 2 coats on this table with plenty left over. I then decided it was too plain. So I wanted to distress it. I just sanded down the corners, legs and top of the table. I think it looks pretty good and the distressing process wasn't nearly as complicated as other distressing processes I've read on the net! I'm pretty proud of my $1.50 table!! (I already had sand paper and paint brushes) My thrifty endtable!
I started sanding before I realized I should get a before picture lol!

Starting out!

I'm jumping on the "blog-wagon." I have been reading blogs daily for quite a while now and decided its time I start my own and see how that goes! I have many ideas for what to put into my blog and I will try to post once a week at least. My name is Erica and I am a Christian wife and mom of one with one on the way in a few months. I work part time 2 or 3 days a week just until baby comes and then I will be full time mommy for a couple years. Now that you know a little about me, here is what I am hoping to portray in my blog... Frugality- I want to show simple ways to be frugal because I try very hard to be frugal! Recipes- I am not a great cook or baker by no means but if I find a great recipe I want everyone to know about it! So here is where I would be posting any good recipes and my unprofessional opinion :) Lunch Ideas- My baby boy is only 1.5 yrs so I make lunch for him of course but I want this section to focus on my hubby's lunches(that I am currently hardly packing but need to start) Thrift Finds- This kind of goes along with frugality but I love thrifting and get some great finds that I'd love to share with someone other than my husband who I dot think really cares (even though I save him tons of dough lol). Thrifting is also a great way to help charities but not feel like your money is just gone because you get something back right away ! Parenting- I have A LOT to learn about being a parent but I want to write about this if I learn something new that seems like other young or new moms (and dads) should know too! Christianity- I am trying to raise my boy in a good Christian home with good morals and knowing God's word. I am also a wife who wants to get her husband to heaven as well so if I have any advice I find suitable for my blog, I'll share it! Decorating- I have always wanted to be an interior decorator(not designer I don't think I have the goods for that lol) and so I want to show some neat decorating tips and tricks I find. Spare time- I have a very well behaved baby so when he is playing by himself or when my husband is home, we are often lost for ideas of what to do! So when I find somethin to do in my spare time, I'll let you know ! Cleaning- I feel like I am always cleaning so when I find new tricks to help my cleaning stay clean, I'll let you know! LolAs you can probably tell, this will be quite a learning experience for me and I am hoping that I can help others with some problems that I have and that you may be experiencing as well! Thanks for reading! Be sure to come back again!
